We welcome Pope Francis’ reflections at the G7

CAMPOBASSO. The Secretary of CISL Molise, Antonio D’Alessandro, expresses great appreciation for Pope Francis’ recent statements on the occasion of the G7 summit. The Holy Father’s words echoed a fundamental message: the need for a synergy between the technological revolution and human ethics.

“We are deeply in tune with Pope Francis’ call to ensure that technology remains at the service of humanity,” says D’Alessandro. “It is essential that every technological tool reflects the greatness and dignity of the human being, supporting his mandate to care for our planet and all its inhabitants.”

The secretary underlines the importance of human responsibility in the face of machine autonomy: “In an era of extraordinary technological advances, we must ensure that the final decision always remains in human hands. The ability to choose is what defines our humanity and cannot be delegated to any machine.”

D’Alessandro also shares the Pope’s concern regarding the use of ‘lethal autonomous weapons’, arguing the need for significant human control and a concrete commitment to ban their use. “No machine should have the power to decide over human life,” insists D’Alessandro.

In conclusion, Antonio D’Alessandro reiterates the importance of a ‘healthy policy’ that can guide society towards positive and lasting transformations. “Addressing the structural shortcomings of global society requires radical change and a policy that involves all sectors and knowledge. Only in this way will we be able to look to the future with hope and confidence.”
