Grifo, it’s a war of nerves

PERUGIA – As the square literally waits, the possible change of ownership of Perugia is slowly turning into a war of nerves. The group led by the former patron of the Rpa Claudio Sciurpa and composed mostly of entrepreneurs and individuals from Umbria or directly linked to the region, after the face-to-face meeting on 25 April would have formalized a proposal to Massimiliano Santopadre and then would have started waiting for a new meeting, publicly expressing his willingness to do as requested by the red and white number one, who does not want to know before the arrival from the Court of Perugia of the approval on the restructuring of the club’s debt already agreed with the Revenue Agency, agreement which will allow the club to lower the debt to around 2.5 million, which can be offset by Lega credits which would bring the club’s budget to a substantial balance.

Incidentally, the Court will not take into consideration Perugia’s dossier before June 20th and in all likelihood the approval will be postponed for a few more days, to the first week of July. And if the wait gets longer, in the meantime something continues to move under the surface, so much so that it makes us think that the coming week could bring some new chapter in the story. Even in the absence of direct contacts, there are indirect ones and messages that are sent. Skirmishes which obviously concern the price of the club, any further debts, the difference between supply and demand, on the one hand the possible buyers and on the other Santopadre who also puts on the table the desire to remain as a sponsor for a few more years, continuing to manage the Academy. Meanwhile, something seems to be moving on other fronts too. Because Sciurpa’s may not be the only offer or the only interest arriving for the red and white club: there would also be interest from a non-Umbrian group that is moving and could soon formulate its proposal. In this context of great uncertainty, Perugia continues to work for next season and sporting director Giugliarelli to operate on the transfer market, where in the meantime the objectives have been identified and the plans drawn up. For example, there is also growing anticipation regarding the possible compensation for Edoardo Iannoni’s card by Salernitana, who just two days ago announced their new sporting director, the former Griffin Gianluca Petrachi. All that remains is to understand whether or not Iannoni will be part of Petrachi’s plans and today could be the day of the truth. In any case, Salernitana will have until tomorrow to assert the option and if they want to keep the player they will have to pay 900,000 euros into Perugia’s coffers, who will automatically also get back the 400,000 already paid to assert the redemption option. Important money also because it could represent a treasure for the market which will be conditioned by the regulatory block (it will not be able to go out more than it comes in) and could allow the club to get important players. One could be the attacking midfielder Alessandro Sbaffo (33), on whom we would have to beat the competition from Sambenedettese (who would expect a response shortly) and Siena who play in D. Another element of great interest is the central defender Davide Mondonico (27 ), who will be released from Ancona after failing to register.
