An entire village of about a thousand inhabitants is without a medical practice, we are talking about Tragliatella, a hamlet of the Municipality of Fiumicino, where the residents are exasperated and are asking the administration to finally find a solution.
The Municipality has promised to reopen the structure but in the Tragliatella hamlet the medical office has its doors barred
The studio in via delle Pertucce has been closed since July 2022, that is, since Arsial declared the premises in which it was housed unusable. While waiting for the renovation works, the doors were closed, leaving out the patients who are now forced to reach Fregene to have a medical visit.
The local health authority has, in fact, communicated to the general practitioner that he will no longer be able to carry out his activity in the premises where he was temporarily hosted.
“However, I have the practice in Fregene, I receive patients whenever they want and, in any case, when the patients from Tragliatella call me I am always present – states the general practitioner, doctor Maria Grazia Stocco – as far as visits are concerned, we have nowhere to visit if the patients do not move to Fregene”.
“On the one hand they say that the public health service is important, that local services are important and on the other they close a medical practice. My mother is 87 years old, luckily she has article 3, paragraph 3 so she is affected by a serious handicap and the doctor can come and visit her at home. Otherwise I couldn’t bring her because there is no doctor’s office”, remarks a lady who complains about the risk of being penalized by the suspension of the service.
“Even having a simple medicine can become complicated and let’s not even talk about the possibility of speaking calmly with a doctor and explaining your problems – echoes another patient – in my opinion the local health authorities should look for different solutions, we cannot think as we did twenty years ago now, if the doctors are not there, if the structures are what they are the local health authority, in my opinion, should try to adapt to the times”.
“After two or three years, nothing has been done, neither inside nor outside -complains a resident- it is no longer clear who is responsible, because the Municipality has said it wants to take over the premises, but it is not clear whether a protocol has been signed with Arsial, because a protocol will certainly be needed”.
“In February this year -points out Fabio Zorzi, councilor of the Municipality of Fiumicino- the municipal administration had declared that this studio would be reopened, but in reality this is not the case today. We ask Arsial to greatly speed up the intervention times because a territory without healthcare is truly a prehistoric territory, healthcare must be a basis for any territory”.
