Elections in Bergamo, the candidates who expected very different results (minus one…)

Faced with an electoral result like that of Bergamo, it is not difficult to understand which way to look to find the disappointed ones.

In the coalition he supported Andrea PezzottaIn fact, there are very few who can say they are, if not happy, at least moderately satisfied. In particular in the League and in Fratelli d’Italia, parties which obtained far fewer votes than one might expect.

In a Forza Italia that hasn’t sunk – but hasn’t stood out either – one is certainly disappointed Carlo Saffioti: from being a candidate for mayor he became deputy mayor in pectore and in the end he won’t even go to the Council, given that he received fewer preferences than Giulia Ceci.

A little bitter in the mouth too Leonio Callioniformer councilor, who in a “Pezzotta Mayor” list that went overall very well received just 42 preferences.

It would then seem impossible not to mention among the disappointed the third big loser, that is, the candidate of the 5 Star Movement, Vittorio Apicella, which, having not exceeded three percent, is unable to even win a place in the city council. Yet he thinks differently…

Finally, even among the winners there are those who certainly cannot be considered fully satisfied. As Adriano Musitelli, provincial secretary of Action, who after a long reflection decided to support Elena Carnevali and run on her civic list. She won, but he only took home 39 preferences. Will he regret it?

Carlo Saffioti (Forza Italia)

Carlo Saffioti

Long-standing (and appreciated) politician, point man of Forza Italia, deputy mayor in pectore, Carlo Saffioti will not even sit in the City Council and he is disappointed by this. “Yes, I wanted to.” He was beaten in the preferences by Giulia Ceci, daughter of the artist. Yet he and his admirers (…)

Leonio Callioni (Pezzotta List)

Leonio Callioni

«A defeat that marks the history of the center-right in Bergamo». Leonio Callioni is a journalist who loves to speak clearly. He ran on the Pezzotta List and was not among the most voted. Not bad, two days later he was already in CISL to offer his availability to lend a hand. His political and social curriculum is remarkable (…)

Vittorio Apicella (5 Star Movement)

Vittorio Apicella

He is happy… «The result obtained is to be considered positive, we were just a few votes short of obtaining a municipal councilor – specifically, 96 list votes or 103 votes for the mayoral candidate – our commitment was evident». Vittorio Apicella, candidate for mayor of the M5S, has a “particular” point of view on the electoral outcome. He glosses over the lost councilor and the 700 fewer votes and sees the glass as half full. «This achievement – he says – is even more significant if we consider the initial difficulties: we started late and with an incomplete list (…)

Adriano Musitelli (Carnival List)

Adriano Musitelli, provincial secretary of Action

Among the winners, yes. But he certainly wasn’t a protagonist. And – she says it clearly – «my personal result was obviously disappointing». Adriano Musitelli, provincial secretary of Action, after failing to create a list of the now former Terzo Polo, agreed to run in favor of Carnevali on his civic list. A second-best choice, in some ways. Which he doesn’t deny, but which certainly didn’t help him: «I ran to demonstrate the political presence of Azione in support of Elena as mayor. On the one hand, the presence of Action was not visible, as there was no symbol, and it did not have the space it deserved; on the other (…)
