“Campania is not for sale. The dignity of Campania is not for sale and is not willing to suffer any blackmail”. The president of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca said this, returning to the issue of cohesion funds, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the 12th edition of ‘Salerno Letteratura’, the event scheduled until 22 June. “Let’s wait – the governor added – the month of June. We have postponed a proposal as the Campania Region. The Council of State has given until June 28th to close this cohesion agreement. No one, neither the Prime Minister nor Minister Fitto, has justified the reasons for this lost year, no one. I have challenged them several times to a public debate to make them tell the Italian and Campania citizens what the reasons are for which they are blocking these resources. We know well what the real reason is, because they have probably identified points of democratic resistance in the Campania region that are a bit annoying.” The Governor then also spoke about Bagnoli: “That was another media scam. I’ve been repeating this for many weeks. It was an act of institutional incorrectness because they charged one billion two hundred million for Bagnoli from the Region’s funds. Why didn’t they use the cohesion funds owned by the national government? This is a shameful thing. Obviously this reduces the resources allocated to the South“. “We – added De Luca – we had to remodulate the plan that we sent on 11 October without anyone ever talking about Bagnoli, or anything else. They invented something else to create obstacles, further blackmail that is poured on the municipalities throughout the regional territory. The most shameful thing is that that billion and two shifts almost 1 billion euros to 2028/29, i.e. the concrete availability that will be there in five years, but in the meantime they force you to block significant resources that we had allocated to all the territories of the region . Despite it all – concluded the Governor – we will move forward and achieve all our goals”.
