Fiab to mayoral candidates: “Focus on sustainable mobility”

In a note, the Fiab of Cremona (Italian Environment and Bicycle Federation) makes it known that “it will not take any public position in favor of a candidate”, that it is “a non-partisan movement open to discussion with all political representatives” and to put its initiatives (presence in schools, dissemination of guides, awareness and education campaigns to respect the rules, conferences, debates and training courses aimed at both private individuals and technicians…) “available to the city, regardless of the political color of the administrators and citizens.”

However, Fiab underlines the importance of “sustainable mobility” which “means better quality of life for everyone: less air and noise pollution, less land consumption, energy and time savings, liveability of urban spaces and also better health because the promoting active mobility, by bicycle or on foot, promotes the well-being of citizens of all ages. A bicycle-friendly city is welcoming to everyone: safe for pedestrians and cyclists, livable, sensitive to the needs of children, the elderly and the disabled.

“We think”, we read in the note, “that the right direction for a public administration is to concentrate efforts towards predominantly public mobility (LPT, bicycle, on foot) limiting the use of private vehicles as much as possible”.
