Avenza, League motion to restore municipal police garrison

CARRARA – “The Carrara League proudly announces the presentation of a motion for the restoration of a municipal police station in the hamlet of Avenza”. City councilor Andrea Tosi announces that the initiative, promoted by him in the name of the entire party, will probably be discussed in the next city council meeting which will be held on Monday 17 June 2024 at 6:00 pm.

“The motion – explains Tosi – arises from the growing concern of the citizens of Avenza for the increase in episodes of degradation, violence, drug dealing and crime that afflict the area. These problems have created a climate of insecurity and fear, pushing many residents to limit their daily activities, especially in the evening and night hours.” Andrea Tosi underlines: “The safety of citizens has always been a priority for us. We organized signature collections and meetings with the citizens of Avenza, finding strong support for this initiative. It is essential to guarantee a constant presence of the police forces, including those under municipal jurisdiction, to improve the quality of life and safety of all citizens”.

The councilor clarifies: “The motion calls for the urgent restoration of a municipal police station in Avenza, ensuring a continuous presence of the municipal police forces to improve the safety of citizens. The introduction of neighborhood police is also envisaged, with patrolling duties both during the day and until midnight, to act as a deterrent against crime and urban decay. Furthermore, the motion includes a request for intercession with the Prefect to establish an inter-force agreement, ensuring more effective and coordinated security in the territory. Finally, commitments are required regarding urban redevelopment initiatives, in collaboration with local associations and citizens, to create a more liveable and safe environment. The League hopes that the City Council will share this battle for safety and approve the motion, finally demonstrating a concrete commitment for Avenza”.
