The 28th edition of the Organ Review is underway

L’AQUILA – The 28th edition of the Organ Review promoted by the Società Aquilana dei Concerti “B. Barattelli” with the first appointment scheduled Monday 17 June in the’Oratory of Sant’Antonio dei Cavalieri de Nardis located in Via San Marciano near Piazza Duomo, starting at 9.15pm.

Here is kept a precious instrument built in 1650 by Luca Neri da Leonessa, a master craftsman who left precious jewels throughout the area, but few have survived to this day in excellent condition like this one which has started playing again after restoration work , in June 2022.

For this special occasion, an organist who knows the characteristics of the extraordinary instrument very well returns to L’Aquila: Luca Scandali, highly specialized in the baroque repertoire, winner of numerous national and international competitions. He currently holds the chair of Organ and Organ Composition at the “F. Morlacchi” of Perugia.

She performs with him Mauro Occhionero, percussionist and protagonist of Italian ethnomusicological research. The two artists have collaborated together for over 20 years, guests at the most prestigious events in the sector both in Italy and abroad.

“Between heaven and earth”, this is the title of the concert program with music from the period 1550-1700 by the authors: Susato, Byrd, Praetorius, Storace, Kuhnau. The audience is immersed in an original and engaging dialogue that combines the characteristic warm sound of the organ with the timbres and rhythms of historical percussion and popular tradition.
