New important step in the process that will lead to the creation of the Stadium of Swimming, one of the most innovative infrastructures that will host the next ones Mediterranean Gameshe was born in Interchange parking designed for the BRT line. The formalization of the handover to the Municipality by the Navy with the presence of the State Property Agency of the areas on which these two large works will be built took place late yesterday afternoon. The report which sanctioned the transfer of the land was signed, at Palazzo di Città, by the officers of the Southern Maritime Command, ship captain Valter Russoand of the Directorate of Military Engineering for the Navy, vessel captain, Teodoro Nicolazzo; fromengineer Massimo D’Andria, for the Puglia and Basilicata Regional Directorate of State Property; by the Heritage and State Property Housing Policies Directorate of the Municipality of Taranto, Alessandro De Romaand by the councilor of the branch, Marcello Murgia.
The land on which the BRT vehicle depot is located along via Acton and via Enrico Millo, near “Maricentro”; while the Swimming Stadium, which will include two 50-metre Olympic swimming pools, one covered and the other uncovered, will be built in thearea of the Torre d’Ayala, in viale Virgilio, on the Mar Grande.
In addition to confirming the great bond that our city has with the Navy, which Mayor Melucci wanted to thank for once again proving to be fully available and attentive to the needs of the territory, the document signed today allows the Municipality to assume temporary ownership of the areas and to proceed with the initiation of the procedures necessary for the construction of two works which will have a positive impact both from the point of view of mobility and that of sports facilities.
