The Como coach Cesc Fabregas spoke on the sidelines of the Milan Football Week organized by La Gazzetta dello Sport. This is what was gathered by the correspondent of TMW:

Many players suffer the transition from the field to the bench. How did it go for you?
“I lived through this phase. In recent years I had prepared myself, because it was something I wanted to do, I was hungry. I felt ready and everything came naturally to me. I’m happy but obviously I have to learn a lot, grow as a coach and as a person and let’s see where this takes me.”

What do Como expect in Serie A?
“We want to form a team to win every match… We must have clear ideas on how to play, I have clear principles and these cannot be negotiated. Then we’ll see how the season goes, but we want to prepare every match to win it, from those in Como to those in San Siro”.

Did you expect such a clear path on a personal and team level?
“I didn’t expect it, the path was clear. To join the Primavera team and maybe in the future move to the first team. I stopped playing earlier than expected, I didn’t feel like it anymore. When the time came to choose I said yes because I I felt prepared. I’m very competitive, there’s always something inside me that always makes me think positive. Let’s see how Serie A goes, but I’m confident that with work and consistency we can do well.”

Sanchez, Borja Mayoral… Are these viable names for your Como?
“These are things that appear in the newspapers and I don’t know where they come from, because they are names that we have never taken into consideration… We want to do things step by step, with a lot of serenity, a good structure and a good vision. Then position by position we will do the right things.”

Italy-Spain at Euro2024?
“Spain is a very young team, Italy has made many changes and has a very prestigious coach. Let’s see, I think they are not the favorites but Italy and Spain always play with the pressure of winning every match. It will be a challenge decisive, but for me the first is always the most important.”

Is Sensi at Como an opportunity?
“I like him, he’s a very strong player. I’ve already followed him since he was at Inter with Conte. Let’s see how the market goes, we’ll study whether some important options can be made. I repeat, however, there will be right and intelligent choices.”
