Emilio Longo, former coach of Picerno, is ready to start a new adventure with Crotone. In an interview with La Nuova del Sud, Longo greeted the Lucanians with affection and explained his reasons behind his decision to leave the club after the match against Taranto.
The decision to leave Picerno came after the match against Taranto. Longo explained that he had exhausted all his mental and physical energy: “I felt I had given my all and I was afraid that the following year I wouldn’t be able to give the same and I preferred to leave. This is why I told the company that I no longer felt like continuing because I had spent everything I had to spend.”
Longo wanted to clarify that his decision was not linked to an agreement with another team. “Someone slandered, saying that I had already found another team. This is absolutely not the case. When I made the decision to leave Picerno it was because I no longer had the energy to continue, but I hadn’t spoken to anyone yet. At that moment there was no other team. I want to clarify this because Picerno must be an opportunity and not a fallback. The moment I made that decision I did so knowing full well that I would also run the risk of staying out of action for a year.”
Longo’s experience at Picerno was full of satisfaction and human connections. The coach underlined the importance of the support of the Picerno community: “They have been two wonderful years in terms of the results that we have made possible thanks to the contribution of everyone, the team, management, technical staff and players, but not only that. The Picerno community has always been present and has always supported us. Bonds and relationships have been created that go beyond football, Picerno has also won me over from a human point of view, it is a community that I carry and will carry forever in my heart and I take this opportunity to greet all those who welcomed me in their land and they loved me.”
Now Emilio Longo is ready to bring his experience and enthusiasm to Crotone. The new challenge represents for him an opportunity for growth and new achievements, always keeping in his heart the good moments he experienced in Picerno.
