«It is extremely clear that the presence of a local candidate was the driving force for the Democratic Party which in the province of Vibo achieved well over 18 percent of the votes, an excellent result which, added to the one obtained in the local elections in Vibo Valentia, takes on extraordinary value which we want to keep faithful to with even more responsibility and with a great desire to do well and be useful for our community.” This is what Luigi Tassone, former candidate for the European Parliament and regional leader of the Democratic Party, says.
«The 14,827 personal preferences gratify me, also because they contributed to the affirmation of the Democratic Party in Calabria and in Southern Italy where it establishes itself as the first party. And even on a provincial scale the result is flattering, in some ways well beyond the most optimistic expectations if it is true as it is true that the Democratic Party establishes itself as the most voted party in 14 centers of the province of Vibo Valentia – Arena, Briatico, Drapia, Francavilla Angitola, Joppolo, Limbadi, Parghelia, Ricadi, San Nicola da Crissa, Serra San Bruno, Simbario, Spadola, Tropea and Zaccanapoli – with peaks, in some cases, of over 40 percent of the vote. And precisely to underline the excellent result achieved and, above all, to give strength to Enzo Romeo’s political project, on which we focused, together with the regional and city parties, from the first moment with extreme determination in the belief that he was not only the candidate best but the best mayor that Vibo could have, for Saturday morning, at 11 am in the electoral headquarters of the center-left mayoral candidate, a press conference will be called, which will be followed by others in the other provinces of Calabria. On that occasion, in the presence of local administrators, leaders and party militants, we intend to reinvigorate a political path that comes from afar and looks towards the future with particular attention – concludes Tassone – to the values of social coexistence and the needs of citizens”.
