The Amalfi Coast-Bisceglie match in Maiori on Sunday, fans of the Apulian team banned from traveling

The match will be played on Sunday 16 June at the “San Martino” municipal stadium in Maiori Amalfi Coast-Bisceglie. A meeting is of fundamental importance for both teams who aspire to promotion to Serie D.
The Police Commissioner of Salerno has issued a provision with which the trip to Maiori is canceled for the Bisceglie fans in view of the final of the national playoffs of Eccellenza following the finding of various critical issues related to public order and safety: «The importance of the match, which represents the last opportunity for both teams to be promoted to the higher category, makes the presence of numerous supporters of both teams predictable, while the San Martino sports facility allows access for a capacity of 200 people, Furthermore, the escape route from the stadium interferes with access to the changing rooms and with the area intended for parking cars and emergency vehicles. For the occasion, the Costa d’Amalfi club has made available to the visiting fans n. 50 entry tickets, but from information activities we learned that the invitation to Bisceglie fans to participate in large numbers in the match is circulating on social media. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that fans without entry tickets could also show up at Maiori».
Also of concern is the route leading away from the stadium which interferes with access to the changing rooms and with the area intended for parking cars and emergency vehicles.
Finally, the well-known and strong rivalry between the Bisceglie fans and that of Barletta, twinned with the Salerno fans, should not be underestimated. This situation could attract numerous Salerno ultras to Maiori with the risk of tensions and public order problems.
The management of Bisceglie Calcio has expressed great disappointment at a decision which it considers objectively penalising. Referring to the legitimate principle of fair conditions in view of the decisive match, the club formally requested the National Amateur League that the match is played behind closed doors, therefore in the absence of both sets of fans. This request aims to ensure that neither team can take advantage of the presence of their supporters in such a crucial match.
