SERIES B OPENS THE RETURN ROUND. PIACENZA IN MILAN.
BASEBALL. Piacenza immerses itself in the descending phase of the regular season by traveling to Milan (Saini Sports Centre) to challenge Ares (Sunday game 1 at 11am and game 2 at 3pm). The red and whites arrive at this intermediate point of the season with morale revived by a comforting ranking, even important given that the position closest to the fateful play-off zone is occupied. A third place that gives prestige to performances characterized by consistency and determination by a completely new, young group that was starting not without some unknowns. Instead, along the way, despite some foreseeable pauses, performance and awareness have grown, to the point that the seasonal objective of salvation now appears even reductive. The path ahead is still difficult but what matters is that it will be possible to face it with confidence and optimism. Starting from Sunday’s away match on the diamond of Ares who are currently struggling in last place, arm in arm with freshman Porta Mortara. Two affordable games but not to be taken lightly. The two victories achieved in the first leg, but both with the minimum difference, serve as a warning. D’Auria recovers many injured players and at least he will be able to field teams that will not suffer from emergencies similar to those of two weeks ago when, before the break, he was forced to visit league leaders Avigliana with too many plasters on. Returning to Saini with maximum points would consolidate third place, considering that the immediate pursuers Seveso and Brescia will share points in the direct clash. The leaders of the class should not suffer too much as last Sunday they had to postpone race 2 of the direct clash in Piedmont again due to bad weather. Junior Parma and Porta Mortara do not seem capable of stopping or slowing down the march of Avigliana and Sala Baganza, more than ever heading towards the play-offs.
