“A result that should make us reflect.” Evaluations on the results of the European Elections in Anzio by the President of Italia Viva Anzio, Angelo Pugliese
“The national and local result of the list – United States of Europe – unfortunately was not what we expected. But to paraphrase the quote from a well-known American basketball player, when he doesn’t win, he learns..”.
These are the first assessments that the President of Italia Viva Anzio, Angelo Pugliese, carries out on the outcome of the elections of last 8 and 9 June, which saw the Single List gain 3.78% at a national level (almost touching the entry threshold of 4%9 and 3% at municipal level in Anzio, with 534 list votes attributed to the symbol that united six lists including Italia Viva and + Europa.
“Thanks go to all our voters, both to those who simply voted for the symbol and to those who expressed one or more preferences, in particular to those who supported, in addition to Matteo Renzi, the candidacies of two figures from the coastal territory of Lazio such as Marietta Tidei and Gerardo Stefanelli, who achieved between 88 and 91 votes” – continued Pugliese.
But the reflections of the President of the Italia Viva club of Nero’s city are not limited to the mere reflection on what has just happened but range over a future horizon: “At a local and national level there is no doubt that if we had gone with logic of the Third Pole or in any case of a unitary liberal and democratic Pole we would have had other results. This was not the case for reasons which need not be discussed further. At a national level, Renzi has decided to start a process of change in which he is likely to step aside to reinvigorate this project. At a local level in Anzio there are more things that unite us with the friends of Anzio in Action than those that divide us and we hope that the new season that is starting can contribute to a reunion. Also because we are preparing to experience an electoral campaign for the renewal of the Anzio City Council and for the election of the next very important mayor (almost two years have passed since the commissionership for criminal infiltration) and one cannot fail to pay little attention to the future of this city and not provide it with adequate reformist political personnel. And a mayor in which technical competence, political passion but the sense of being a civic expression all go hand in hand” – concluded Angelo Pugliese.
