Between Bisceglie and Serie D the last obstacle is represented by Costa d’Amalfi, a team that represents an area of 14 municipalities close to the enchanting Amalfi coast, as is clearly evident from the name of the club founded in 2012. After the 1- 1 of the first leg at Ventura, the boys of Pino Di Meo they will have to climb up the hill, facing twists and turns to reach the goal set at the beginning of the season: the return to national football after two seasons spent in Apulian Excellence.
On Sunday, the match that is worth an entire season, will be played at the ‘San Martino’ sports field in Maiori, with a capacity of 200 seats, inadequate system to accommodate the amount of public interested in a final that will give away the last place for the D. Considering the requests for coupons received from Bisceglie, well beyond the 50 units available for the guest sector, the Prefecture of Salerno communicated to Bisceglie the travel ban for the Nerazzurrostellata fans. The reaction of the club chaired by Vincenzo Racanati was not long in coming and, through an official statement, expressed its disappointment. “Embittered and disconcerted by an objectively penalizing decision and referring to the legitimate principle of fairness of conditions in view of the decisive match, the management of Bisceglie Calcio formally requests the National Amateur League that the match be played behind closed doors, therefore in the absence of both fans”. We’ll see how it turns out yet another thorny case that makes local football less and less credible.
It seems like a coincidence, but it should be remembered that the championship opened with the Unione-Bisceglie derby, played at Di Liddo with limited capacity and many fans outside, and will end, barring sensational about-faces, with the absence of the Bisceglie supporters due to the ‘inadequacy of the facility hosting the decisive match. Without adequate facilities you can’t play football and this, beyond the perfunctory phrases, is known very well by the gentlemen who manage the most popular sporting discipline in our country. On Sunday, therefore, we move towards the Amalfi Coast-Bisceglie final, sadly deprived of the passion of the Nerazzurrostellati fans.
