Count more in agriculture, demonstrate your skills in sectors where the presence of women is still small, network to grow and support each other. These are the objectives of the newly formed Venetian section of Confagricoltura Donna, officially baptized in Padua in a meeting attended by agricultural entrepreneurs from all over the Veneto.

The woman from Polesine was elected president Chiara Dossipresident of the food grains section of Confagricoltura Veneto and owner of a mainly cereal company in Adria, in the province of Rovigo. The vice presidents are from Padua Valentina Lorenzinwho runs a farm, e Catia Bolzonella, owner of a winery in the Euganean Hills. Completing the organizational chart is a council made up of eight female agricultural entrepreneurs from the various provinces. The declared objective of Confagricoltura Donna is to encourage the development of female entrepreneurship and equal opportunities in the agricultural sector, promoting business culture and enhancing the ethical, economic and social role of businesses run by women.

“The need to create a Venetian section of Confagricoltura Donna has been felt for some time – underlines Chiara Dossi -. They were the ones who gave the input Deborah Piovannational president of the protein and seed crops section of the confederation, e Alessandra Da Porto, organizing the meeting in Padua where the desire to network and be taken into greater consideration emerged. In the agricultural world the male presence is preponderant and even in the generational transition women do not enjoy the support of the older male part, despite often representing the most creative and innovative part of the company. In short, there is a certain resistance in giving us space.”

In Veneto, according to Ismea 2024 datafemale farms are 21,440out of a total of 82,860. One in four, therefore, is pink. Above all, the businesses run by young people under 40 are growing, with an increase of 5.4% compared to 2023. “In some sectors, female representation is constantly growing, such as agritourism and winemaking – explains Dossi -. In others it still signals a certain distrust, such as in the cereal sector or in livestock farming. We must, therefore, make our voice heard and demonstrate that we have the skills and competences to master any field. I am also making contact with the presidents of other regional entities of Confagricoltura Donna, to share initiatives, projects and ideas aimed at enhancing and encouraging female entrepreneurship”.
