ANCONA Alcohol in circulation, one word too badly interpreted and so the euphoria of the evening spent at a party at the Faculty of Engineering resulted in blood, then in a courtroom. A 33-year-old from Loreto, who was enrolled at the Polytechnic at the time of the events, is now on trial for a fight between former university students: he is accused of having beaten up a 30-year-old, then an away student, in Piazza Roma.
The reconstruction
The attack dates back to the night of 27 October 2017 when the young people, returning to the center on a shuttle, were queuing to order a kebab in via Carducci. Here the commotion broke out when the accused turned a nasty face on the victim and his friend, convinced that they had called him an “idiot” while he was talking to his girlfriend. The 30-year-old (civil party with the lawyer Enrico Ciafardini) intervened to defend his friend: he received two punches, one in the cheekbone and the other in the nose. The second round took place shortly afterwards in Corso Mazzini, where the victim, bleeding, followed the attacker who in the meantime had left with his partner. When questioned in court, he said he was beaten a second time when the other realized that he was calling the police. After a knee, his cell phone was shattered. In the end, it was the police cars that stopped and identified the accused, whose examination was held yesterday in the courtroom before judge Matteo Di Battista. “He was the one who provoked me, he offended me by calling me a bum when he saw me rummaging through an envelope”, he said, defended by the lawyer Francesco Carletti. «He chased me, tripped me and grabbed me by the neck, I only defended myself by giving him a slap», he added, recalling that the rivalry had arisen because his girlfriend had been bothered by his friend . The trial has been postponed to November 7 for the sentence.
