Group E was certainly one of the most exciting, at least as regards the fight for the title where only the direct clashes broke the balance between SPQV Velletri and Real Ciampino Academy, both arriving at 47 points, with the boys of Luca Angeletti who won first place thanks to a 1-5 score in the return match after narrowly losing the first leg. A historic promotion for the Lazio club which is now starting to think about next season, to give continuity to the growth project highlighted by the recent results.
What does the promotion represent for this company? How did you mentally manage the duel at the top?
“The satisfaction is great because we have gained access to a category in which this place has never reached. Net of the reform on the new Serie A2, it is an achievement that makes us truly proud of our journey. We honestly didn’t feel the pressure that much because the initial goal was to try to reach the play offs. We definitely went further and I can only thank my team. The duel with Ciampino was exciting, especially the return match because we were the first to beat them and we really realized we could aim for the top.”
What were the most important moments of the season?
“In addition to the two direct clashes with Ciampino, which certainly had an impact on the rankings, I would like to underline the match in the return round with Elmas where we had many absences and, despite their excellent performance, we managed to take home the ‘entire stakes. The truth is that I had the opportunity to coach an excellent group, always focused but also cohesive in moments of difficulty. Little by little we convinced ourselves that we could get to the end and I honestly believe that we deserved this promotion”
Are you already planning the next championship? What does it take to be able to compete in Serie A2 too?
“The club is already moving to try to strengthen the team for next season even if we have great faith in the boys who have achieved this feat. They are valid players and the biggest challenge will be to try to bridge the gap with the clubs that have been in this category for several years.”
