This year too, on Saturday 15 June, the traditional passage of the effigy of the Madonna of Casaluce between Casaluce and Aversa will take place. The exchange will take place in via San Lorenzo near the Benedictine abbey.
The sacred icon will remain in the Norman city until October 15th, when it will return to Casaluce. At the time of the exchange between Casalucesi and Aversani, the faithful of the two centers will have the canopy changed (stripped of the mantle of the transferring town and dressed with that of the city that welcomes the Icon) at the height of a border stone near the Abbey of San Lorenzo. The sacred effigy will be welcomed by Bishop Angelo Spinillo, the parish priest and numerous faithful.
The sacred icon will wander around the city parishes for a week before returning to the parish of Saints Philip and James next Saturday 22 June. On the evening of the 15th the sacred icon will be held in the parish of San San Lorenzo, on Sunday the 16th in that of San Giuseppe Operaio, on Monday 17 June the scheduled stop is in the parish of Santa Maria a Piazza and on Tuesday in the parish of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli. On Wednesday, then, the stop is scheduled at the parish of San Michele alla railway and on Thursday at the Church of the Annunziata. Then on Friday, the sacred icon will return to its church in the parish of Saints Philip and James.
The return of the icon of the Madonna of Casaluce is welcomed by the people of Aversa as a moment of auspiciousness. Religion and tradition become one for the feast of the Madonna, co-patron (with Saint Paul) of the city of Aversa.
