With just under a week to go until the ballot, Gianni Rolandoreturns to one of the most important issues that characterized the electoral campaign: public water.

“I have always supported the need for water to be and remain a public good – Rolando declares – because the entry of a private individual could negatively impact the management and costs for citizens of an asset that is synonymous with life. Our coalition is in favor of public water and will therefore work to find alternative solutions to the privatization of part of the company’s shares. I also reiterate that the undersigned, even when he was president of Amaie, always declared himself against the entry of the private partner, always having verified the economic feasibility, as is the case today”.

“Rivieracqua – Rolando continues – after the ASL, it is the main public company in the Province with over 200 employees and a turnover of over 40 million euros. The approval of the area plan, the obtaining of over 40 million euros of PNRR funds, the new internal organization already make it possible to guarantee the economic and financial balance of the company and at the same time repay previous debts without necessarily having to resort to a private partner. I therefore believe that not only water must remain public but also management must remain completely public as it represents a resource for the Province. In fact, the socio-economic consequences of essential activities such as aqueducts, sewerage and purification allow us to have full control of the territory for the improvement of the quality of life of all citizens (subservices, utilities, bathing), allowing the proceeds of the tariff to be distributed exclusively for investments in infrastructures to maintain and improve the quality of services. The entry of a private partner into an essential public service with a strongly territorial character (the water is collected, distributed and discharged on site) would lead to the decentralization of many activities with a loss of related activities and a reduction in investments. Public management goes exactly in the opposite direction. And now that after so many sacrifices, Rivieracqua is functioning and is totally public, it would be a shame to give it away to the private sector. In conclusion – highlights Rolando – I appreciate that the mayoral candidate Fellegara is also on the same line and therefore I believe that, if I am elected mayor, it is correct to make a common fight to reach this objective, giving due credit to those who believed in it in unsuspecting times”.
