PALERMO – The officers of the municipal police of Palermo have 3 animal-drawn carriages were seizedused for tourist transport, unlicensed and not in line with the provisions of the union ordinance which protects the health of equids.
The agents that today, Thursday 13 June, they intervened in the historic center of the capital and seized three carriages not authorized by Suap, caught red-handed with some tourists on board, one in via Roma and two in piazza Marina.
The drivers were fined, according to the provisions of the art. 70 of the Highway Code and the vehicles were subjected to administrative detention. In the event of violation of the provision, confiscation will occur.
Ferrandelli: “Promise kept”
“We promised zero tolerance against illegal workers: promise kept. The municipal police unit carried out the first checks in the historic center and seized three carriages”, declared Fabrizio Ferrandelli, councilor for animal rights of the Municipality of Palermo.
“In line with the directives I wanted regarding animal welfare and safety. This also means educating the city about legality and respect.”
