“On the dog areas promised by the Municipality” – Savonanews.it

The words of Riccardo Benetti, president of Leidaa Savona and its province, on the dog areas of the city are harsh. Some time ago Benetti had exposed the problem of degradation and poor maintenance of areas dedicated to dogs in the city.

As president of the Leidaa Lega Italiana defense of animals and the environment association as founder Honorable Michela Vittoria Brambilla – explains Benetti – I feel like denouncing the continued indifference of our mayor of Savona after the last meeting we had with the presence of Marco Russo and Mrs. Gabriella Branca“.

“The meeting – goes on – it happened about 18 months ago in an immediate session in the municipality in the presence of a councilor, where I exposed the problem of the Trenches area of Savona, which is a completely devastated animal walking area and is occupied at night by drug addicts, his promise had been that of having an external company intervene to fix the area which unfortunately is in continuous degradation”.

“I continue to denounce the degradation – continues Benetti – as citizens also report. I receive messages from Savona residents who are really tired of having an area they cannot use. I therefore ask for an immediate meeting with the mayor of Savona: the animals have the right to live peacefully in a free-roaming area and the firefighters have been notified because unfortunately it is a dangerous area. It’s time to stop painting the streets of the center of Savona and we need to make improvements where necessary.”

Neighborhoods councilor Gabriella Branca intervenes on the issue. “As Mr Benetti well knows – Branca declares – il The topic of animal welfare is close to our hearts. During the meeting we had last year we explained to him the budget situation which, at the time, gave us no room for manoeuvre.”

With the exit from the rebalancing plan, Palazzo Sisto now has more room for maneuver, as Branca explains: “We have recently started to redo redevelopment interventions, thanks to a less stringent economic situation and to collaboration agreements with citizens which, for example, in the Legino area have allowed us to reopen the Marabotto park and create a new area within it canine with nets, gates, baskets and a water fountain”.

“Of course, there is still a lot of work to do– he concludes – the necessary interventions were numerous and widespread throughout the city. Little by little we are regenerating both the parks (Baden Powell, Rocca park, United Nations Garden, Via Zara Garden) and the furnishings. Dog areas are also part of this urban regeneration process for which the collaboration of citizens in keeping clean and avoiding acts of vandalism is also important.”
