Concentrico Festival Carpi: the ninth edition starts from the 7th – Che Cultura

For years Lapressa.it has offered free and independent information to its readers without any type of public contribution. Private advertising covers part of the costs, but it is not sufficient. For this reason we ask those who read us and follow us every day to give us, if they wish, a contribution based on their possibilities. Even a small support, multiplied by the tens of thousands of people from Modena and Emilia-Romagna who read us daily, is fundamental.

The 9th edition of Concentrico Festival will propose more than 30 events involving around a hundred artists and companies distributed in different entertainment areas. Corso Roma will be the starting point for the national premiere of Don Chisciotte, the new show of the Teatro dei Venti and the large location at the Parco della Cappuccina will host the chapiteau of the MagdaClan Circo with four shows and an absolute preview, the Aimag arena with every evening a unique show and the free Concentrico Plus stage for free concerts and shows. Also this year Nonno Pep in the park with craft beers and drinks, a new food area curated by Edibles and Wines and a small craft and handmade market to enjoy the park at 360 degrees. A novelty will be Concentrico Junior for the little ones with free workshops and activities by Cooperativa Giravolta.

The Concentric Festival does not have a theme but a time: the scheduled shows will offer the public various ideas for investigating our society and addressing the contradictions of the present, from the world of social media to the issues of rights at work and gender equality up to build our utopia because it is up to us to transform reality.

It starts on Friday 7 June with Kepler – 452 with a monologue on the topic of social hatred and social media. The others. Investigation of the newest monsters is a theatrical reportage that pushes us to emerge from our isolation and meet that part of the country that we have persisted in considering as a minority, unimaginable and which today is showing itself in all its power.

Let’s continue Saturday 8 June with Made in Ilva by Instabili Vaganti: a physical theater solo in which the actor plays a worker, archetype of the contemporary worker, who acts caged in metal structures carrying out repetitive and acrobatic actions that lead him to alienation.

The drama also uses testimonies from ILVA workers.

Sunday 9th and Monday 10th June the arena will host the new production Concentrico Factory 2024: Vita Dvlcis, the result of the two Cantiere Concentrico theatrical workshops conducted by Marco Massarotti and Andrea Saltini.

One of the most talented young authors on the Italian scene, Niccolò Fettarappa, will be on stage with Apocalisse Tascabile Tuesday 11 June a one-act heroic comedy about the apocalypse seen from the perspective of two “discarded” young people. God appears in a supermarket on the outskirts of Rome and announces the end of the world. The change is embodied by two apostles under 30 who bring to the scene the anger of a generation so young and already so dead.
The writer, author and radio speaker Carlotta Vagnoli will be on stage Wednesday 12 June with an unpublished monologue that summarizes his point of view on the role of women in current society: Le Solite Stronze.

Thursday 13 June one of the most innovative companies on the contemporary theater scene that stands out for its pop, rock and punk language: Babilonia Teatri with Calcinculo and its irreverent and divergent look at today.

The second weekend opens, Friday 14 June, the monologue Once upon a time there was war produced by EMERGENCY Ong Onlus. A show that traces the history of recent decades to show us that war is never inevitable. This show aims to be a contribution to an education that includes utopia in its path. The stories of those who opposed it will come to life on stage with Mario Spallino, accompanied by original music and songs.

The festival will end on Sunday 16 June with Viva Garibaldi by Giuseppe Ciciriello: a new show that combines narrative theatre, musical theater and actor’s theater with the compelling story of unification contrasted with the story of the 1982 football world cup, a final epic in the memory of Italians.
The Aimag arena is supported by the main sponsors and historical supporters of the event Aimag Spa and Sinergas Spa.

This year the MagdaClan Circo company of Turin will propose four contemporary circus shows under its chapiteau.
Two large collective shows will be on stage: Eccezione from 7 to 9 June and Emisfero from 13 to 16 June which will involve all the artists of the company, both acrobats and musicians.
Monday 11 June Alessandro Maida, one of the founders of the company, will present his new solo project entitled 2984: one of a kind, it is a story that talks about tomorrow but reflects on today. On Tuesday 12 June Giorgia Russo, with an absolute preview, will present Sweet Molotov: a small poem written with the body to tell with generous cynicism how a personal disaster sometimes borders on absurdity or, better said, comedy.

There will be no shortage of great free shows that distinguish the Festival: Friday 7 June How to destroy your dance by Collettivo Cinetico, one of the most important and cutting-edge contemporary dance companies on the national scene, founded by choreographer Francesca Pennini. The performance is a challenge against time with pulp tones and a playful taste to test one’s abilities and resistance.

Saturday 8 June the Teatro dei Venti will bring the national premiere of the new traveling show, Don Chisciotte starting from Corso Roma: a dreamlike journey that encourages us to return to the roots of our desires. What Don Quixote, followed by Sancho, fights for is the desire not to give up, not to get used to evil, with an eye towards the future which needs all our present awareness.
Elio Germano and Teho Teardo will bring the new production The dream of a thing, Saturday 15 June: Pier Paolo Pasolini in a version of words and music. Pasolini talks to us about the people who escaped from Italy after the Second World War by illegally crossing the border to go to Yugoslavia. Three Friulian boys face the world: they desire the good life, develop a political conscience, dream of revolution but end up bowing to the compromises of adulthood. The dream of a thing is Pasolini’s first narrative experiment, published only in 1962, it turns out to be the debut novel and the conclusion of his narrative season.

The Festival will close Sunday 16 June the performance of the Italian-Japanese group Munedaiko: the art of Taiko. Munedaiko is a study group dedicated to the practice and enhancement of the traditional Japanese drum, the taiko. Recognized as cultural collaborators by the Japanese embassy in Italy, they perform in concerts throughout Italy and Europe, spreading the expressive power of their drums. Through extraordinary performances that integrate music, theater and dance, the tradition of ancient Japan comes to life. Taiko becomes a powerful catalyst for a shared vision: an absolute and universal vibration that unites hearts and minds in an extraordinary experience aimed towards a world of peace.

The album is a palette of bright colors and with many contrasts which in their own way reflect the environment where the album was born; Naples, at the moment one of the liveliest and most active cities in the entire Western world, a city where in recent years anything can and does happen amidst apparent difficulties that turn into opportunities.
The Concentrico Plus stage, the experimental section of the festival, dedicated to music, to the contaminations of the artistic world, to the research and development of multidisciplinary projects and hybridization of languages, with daily DJ sets, concerts and large free events, is created thanks to the Visiospot support.

The main activity is the planning and realization of events and festivals combined with careful research in the artistic and organizational field.
