Rimini: “The Temple Factory”. An app to learn about the Duomo. Presentation on Saturday

On Saturday 15 June, at 12, in the Cathedral Basilica in Rimini, the La Fabbrica del Tempio project will be presented.
Monsignor Nicolò Anselmi, Bishop of Rimini and Jamil Sadegholvaad, mayor of Rimini will be present.

The Temple Factory is the title of this new project which allows a new digital enjoyment of the cultural heritage of the Cathedral, the main Catholic place of worship in Rimini, for culture lovers one of the most representative buildings of the entire fifteenth century, studied in all art history books.

The Tempio Malatestiano (as it is also known by the people of Rimini) is an artistic place of rare beauty but, also, an unfinished factory of spirituality and citizenship.
The image adopted to launch the project in fact depicts the construction site of the Cathedral, which began in 1450. A construction site that in reality was never completed: the construction of the Cathedral, as Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta had envisaged it, was never brought to completion term and over the centuries the “Malatesta Temple” has suffered interventions and injuries (such as the devastating bombings of the Second World War).
In reality the Basilica is always an open construction site because its construction is not only material but also spiritual: a precious meeting place also for the lay community, it is a living monument, capable of entering into relationships with the people who live there, they visit it and enjoy it.
This is the message we want to offer to those – faithful, tourists, students – visit the Cathedral Basilica of the Diocese of Rimini”, assures Jonny Farabegoli, contact person for the Diocesan Commission of Sacred Art.

In February 2023 Kaleidon participated in an Invitalia tender for the implementation of the PNRR in favor of innovation and the digital transition of Italian cultural heritage, which in October of the same year saw it among the companies selected for the implementation of the project .
The proposed one involves the creation of a website and a web app to guide visitors (over 75,000 per year) inside the Malatesta Temple.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences of the Dioceses of Rimini and San Marino-Montefeltro “A. Marvelli” merge into the site and the App images, videos and useful texts to document not only the works of art present, but also the spiritual importance of the building in the historical context in which it was born, providing a precise and informative overview of the Renaissance from Rimini.

“La Fabbrica del Tempio” is therefore an opportunity for the whole community, a project that takes place a few months before the Jubilee and within a process that sees Rimini increasingly enhancing its cultural and social vocation.

The app offers a new use of the Temple on smartphones and PCs in five steps: guided tour, insights, explore, liturgical information and donate.
