The body of the man overwhelmed and buried by a landslide in Valdaveto was found

The body of Emilio Franco Pezzotta, a 71-year-old from Brescia who on the afternoon of Thursday 27 June was swept away by a landslide in Valdaveto, between the hamlets of Curletti and Cattaragna, in Municipality of Ferriere.
The rescuers (also a specialized unit of firefighters on site) dug for two hours to find his body buried under three cubic meters of earth. Obviously there was nothing to be done, the 118 health workers could only confirm his death.

THE DYNAMICS OF THE ACCIDENT – From an initial reconstruction it seems that Pezzotta was with his partner who was unharmed but is understandably in shock. The 71-year-old seems to have been trying to free a small stream from some branches with a chainsaw, then the landslide that buried him under the eyes of the woman who could do nothing but ask for help. He was originally from Gorlago (Bergamo) but lived in Palazzolo sull’Oglio (Brescia). In Valdaveto he had a second home where he spent his holidays. The fire brigade teams from the Piacenza provincial command and the Bobbio detachment intervened on site. The 118 Operations Center of Parma activated the nursing staff in post in Farini, the operators of the Red Cross of Marsaglia, the Alpine Rescue and the helicopter rescue that took off from the Ospedale Maggiore of the ducal city. In the meantime, the Drago helicopter was taken off from Bologna and arrived in Piacenza to take on board two Piacenza firefighters specialized in Usar (urban search and rescue) and took off again to reach the scene of the accident. To support the rescue operations, a team with an excavator was mobilized from the Piacenza provincial firefighters command and the photoelectric lights were prepared.
