Stintino. The Club Hotel Cala Rosa in Stintino hosted the official presentation of the 21 nations participating in the 29th International Men’s, Women’s and Greco-Roman Freestyle Wrestling Tournament “Città di Sassari” U20 and Senior, and at the 19th “Sardinia” International Beach Wrestling Tournament. Both events are organized by the Polisportiva Athlon Sassari and promise strong emotions and great competition.
Participating nations: Canada, Chile, Ivory Coast, Greece, Honduras, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Korea, Malta, Morocco, Mongolia, Poland, Puerto Rico, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Venezuela and USA. Furthermore other prestigious Italian clubs such as Club Seggiano Bergamo and Club Borgo Prati Roma.
The presentation curated by Fabio Marotta was attended by: Salvatore Fizio, Sports Activities Coordinator of the Fijlkam Wrestling sector, Dave McKenzie, Coach of the Canada delegation, Willfredo Garcia, Coach of the Venezuela delegation, Maurizio Casarola, official Fijlkam speaker, Danilo Solinas, international referee and Vincenzo Piroddu, President of the Athlon Sassari sports club.
The appointment with the “Città di Sassari” is set for Friday 14 June with the Under 20 category races, then on Saturday 15 it will be the turn of the Seniors. There will be more than 80 athletes competing, with big names on the international scene. The Azzurra delegation will bring the U20 Raul Caso, Italian champion in the 74 kg category and medalist at the World and European Championships, to the mats in Sassari. Among the seniors there will be the participation of Yasmania Acosta, South American Champion in the 125 kg category.
The 19th “Sardinia” International Beach Wrestling Tournament will take place on Sunday 16 June in Stintino, from 10:00 to 14:30, at the Club Ancora beach, a few meters from La Pelosa beach. Ready to fight the best athletes on the international scene, in this new discipline which every year receives more and more interest for its spectacularity.
The Polisportiva Athlon Sassari would like to underline that all competition days, both at the Pala Santoru in Sassari and at the Club Ancora beach in Stintino, will have free entry.
