Bergamo: Today the cameras of the new Città Alta restricted traffic zone were turned on

Tonight the cameras of the new restricted traffic zone in Città Alta will be turned on, the gate of which has moved from the funicular area in viale Vittorio Emanuele to the roundabout of the Conca d’oro tunnel (the only one authorized to enter the historic centre, when traffic restrictions are active).

The times in which access will be limited, therefore, will be for the summer evening period from 9pm to 1am from Thursday to Sunday, while on public holidays the time will be from 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 7pm ( for more information, you can go to this link).

The rules of the Ztl

The sanctions will be applied to motorists who, once they have entered the area, do not park their car in one of the three car parks, connected to the infomobility system which has become operational since the inauguration of Parking Fara on 4 May. Specifically, these are the Fara structures, as well as those of Porta Sant’Alessandro and Via delle Tre Armi.

Furthermore, from today the electronic eyes will also be turned on in via Locatelli, at the intersection with via Brigata Lupi, again as a consequence of the expansion of the Ztl, which led to the issuing of three hundred passes by Atb for the residents of the area.

Postponement of activation

In reality, as is known, the switching on of the cameras was scheduled for June 1st, but the Municipality had decided to postpone it and the local police were also on the road to inform drivers, who warned of the new rules for a period of approximately forty days.

The postponement was determined by some bureaucratic delays on the part of Atb to issue the permit to the residents of the new areas incorporated by the Ztl, but also by the desire to avoid inconvenience to citizens who went to the polls on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June. Furthermore, next August 1st, the electronic eyes will also be turned on in Via San Lorenzo and Piazza Mercato del Fieno in the ancient village.
