The State Police has notified the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations, issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Matera, against a twenty-year-old from Lombardy, held responsible for the crime of aggravated fraud, committed online.
From the investigative reconstruction carried out by the Flying Squad, the young woman would have contacted the victim by telephone, a man resident in Matera, who had put a moped up for sale on a well-known online advertising platform at the price of 800 euros. The woman, on the phone with the seller, after convincing him that he would receive the agreed sum directly into her current account, misled him, convincing him to preliminarily top up 1,472.38 euros on a prepaid card in her name. All this occurred in circumstances of place and time which the woman had taken advantage of, hindering the defense of the victim, who had no way of verifying the identity of the buyer.
After making the top-up, obviously, the money was no longer returned to the man, who thus understood that he had been scammed. Therefore, he turned to the State Police, who identified and identified the woman, reporting her to the judicial authorities.
It is stated that the investigations must be understood, subject to further investigation and pending judgement, in respect of the rights of the person under investigation, the presumption of innocence and the necessary trial verification.
