Good job to Margherita, new president of Cai Matera

And this time the “bell” bought in Agnone was used to wish good luck to Margherita Sirritiello, the new and young president of the CAI section of Matera “Falco Naumanni”, who took over from that old but always active oak of the association that is Donato Casamassima. For Margherita there is a substantial program to carry out, including excursions out of town and a commitment to raising awareness and environmental protection, but also to stimulating and collaborating with local authorities for “small” concrete actions for an approach to a heritage that must be handed over to new generations in the best way. Good work to Margherita and the old and new members of the Club,

PRESS RELEASE

CAI Matera section Falco Naumanni, handover from the old to the new president. The creation of trail signs is in full swing.

Last Thursday 6 June, in the headquarters of the CAI Matera “Falco Naumanni” section in via la Croce n.1, there was the “handover” from the old to the new president, from Donato Casamassima to Margherita Sirritiello, following the renewal of corporate offices.

Since last year the group went on a trip to Agnone, the town of bells, (and then to the snows of Capracotta) it was decided to mark the transition from the old to the new direction with the ritual of giving a little bell, purchased right in the Molise town, in front of the members who attend.

Handing over also means taking stock of the activities carried out. Naturally, in addition to organizing and carrying out the walking and cycling excursions scheduled in the annual calendar, in these first months of 2024, the CAI Matera Section has been busy – and continues to be – with local projects relating to trails, launched in collaboration with the Municipality of Irsina and the Murgia Materana Regional Park.

The horizontal signage of the paths in the territory of the Municipality of Irsina has been completed and the positioning of the vertical one is in progress. As regards the collaboration with the Parcomurgia Authority, we have completed the signage of path 406 (from the Sassi to Murgia Timone passing through the so-called “Tibetan bridge”). The signage of another 4 paths will soon be completed.

As regards mountain therapy – outings in an environment with fragile people – on 11 June there was an excursion to Latronico (PZ) according to the collaboration agreement signed together with the A.Ma.Sa.M – Materana Association for Mental health.

The new President Margherita Sirritiello expressed her heartfelt thanks for the work carried out so far with passion and ability by Donato Casamassima who, among the founders of the Association, was the first President of the Matera CAI Section, a position he held several times previously. All the members present wanted to present a commemorative plaque to Donato Casamassima, as an expression of gratitude for what he has done for the Association.

The new members of the Board of Directors of the CAI Matera Section, who will work together with the new president (specifying that, like all the other members, the presidents and councilors also offer their commitment free of charge as volunteers): Giulia Coretti (Vice President), Antonio Alba , Michele Colonna, Simona Di Tomaso, Pierfrancesco Matarazzo, Cinzia Moliterni, Felice Santantonio and Gianfranco Scalcione.
