FANO Promptness, acumen and spirit of initiative were the qualities by which a police patrol identified the perpetrators of a theft, a few minutes after it had been committed, arresting three criminals and returning the stolen property to its rightful owner.
It all took place on Tuesday evening around 8.30pm in the large car park of the Fano Center in via Einaudi in Bellocchi. Here a lady, an animal lover, usually stops to feed the stray cats. She did the same thing the other evening; she got out of the car with a pebble in her hand to reach a more secluded place after a few steps in order not to disturb the customers of the shopping centre.
The car was left unlocked
Since it was a very short time, he did not lock his car, where he had left his bag on the seats. At that moment a black Nissan Juke passed from which an individual got out and with a lightning move took possession of the bag itself containing the credit cards, a sum of cash equal to 75 euros, documents, personal effects and the mobile phone; then, the car took off suddenly.
The woman, after realizing the theft, immediately called 112 and luck would have it that at that moment a patrol of the Carabinieri of the Fano Company was passing by under the command of Captain Maximiliano Papale, on a normal patrol.
The controls
The closing time of the supermarket is always a time of risk for public order and the police are often present. Having listened to some witnesses who spoke of a black Nissan Juke, the police immediately started looking for the car, even though they did not have the license plate number. Shortly after, they spotted a similar one in the nearby Burger King parking lot.
The hearing
The car was proceeding at low speed, evidently parking. Inside there were three individuals, two from Reggio Emilia and one from the province of Rome, aged 34 to 49, who were stopped and cornered and admitted to having been the perpetrators of the theft. A device for reading ATM codes and another mobile phone of furtive origin were also found inside the passenger compartment. The arrest was validated yesterday by the judge and the three were issued a residence ban in the province.
