It took place at Spazio Open in via Filippini in Reggio Calabria the usual meeting “The Biesse Lounges” of the Cultural Association for social good founded and chaired by Bruna Seville. The theme of the living room turned out to be interesting and full of food for thought, the topic is among the most current given the arrival of high temperatures: “Food supplements: how and when to use them?” This is the theme that pleasantly entertained the numerous members and citizens present at the meeting.
The speakers were Dr. Maria Antonietta Barilla Pharmacist and Antonio Paolillo Food Technologist. “Food supplements should not be considered as substitutes for a healthy and balanced diet, however, their use can be useful for short periods of time and only in cases of strict necessity – thus Dr. Barilla who recommended to those present – not to abuse food supplements and above all to always ask your family doctor or trusted pharmacist for advice. Much has been said about multivitamins but also about antioxidants and energizers”.
Food for thought on the importance of a healthy and correct diet were posed by Dr. Antonio Paolillo who, after having dwelt on the importance “of correct and efficient food education, briefly reviewed the history of nutrition from hominids to the present day – Food is first and foremost a gift and as such must be respected and shared, avoiding food waste and respecting the seasonal consumption of agricultural and agri-food products – . Responsible and conscious food consumption helps not only our body but also respect for the environment and sustainability”. The meeting was also attended by several doctors who contributed with their professional experience to disseminate useful information to consumers. A lot of participation for a successful initiative.
