It was “better” that it hadn’t happened to me, however, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case but, at least, I got the “best” that could be reserved for me, that is, that of being followed by a cutting-edge hospital department both as equipment and as medical, technical and reception personnel.
In fact, the Radiotherapy Department of Teramo, excellently managed, stands out for its high professionalism, kindness, harmony, unity of purpose, there is a family atmosphere in it and this, without a doubt, I believe is also the thought of all the patients under treatment.
Therefore, to all those who consider Italian healthcare to be sick, I would like to be able to say that this is not entirely accurate as there are sectors in it that function perfectly and it is no coincidence that one of them should be identified, as a main example, in the Department of Radiotherapy of Teramo which, without the slightest shadow of doubt, can be defined as a “flagship” of the ASL 4 of the Abruzzo Region, not only for the important objective for which it is responsible, but also and above all for the extraordinary way with which the same is achieved through the use of high-tech healthcare equipment by expert technicians in execution of personalized treatment plans, developed by medical personnel of undisputed experience.
Normally, when a patient concludes a period of hospital attendance, he feels a sense of relief, of liberation from something that would be better forgotten quickly, well, my reaction was different because I felt an unexpected internal discomfort in having to leave behind people who took care of my health in an exemplary way during 39 days of radiotherapy.
This may seem paradoxical but, for me, it isn’t at all.
Thank you for everything you have offered me on a professional and human level, I greet each of you with great esteem, however, it is also a goodbye hoping to still be followed in a process of monitoring my pathology.
