Citizens will be able to request the assignment of a plot aimed at the direct cultivation of a vegetable garden
The Municipality of Caltanissetta has published an application for the assignment and use of one of the 12 lots (of which 3 intended for disadvantaged citizens) set up in the Rosario Assunto Park in via Capitano Achille Di Martino in Caltanissetta .
Interested citizens will be able to submit their application by 12:00 on Monday 8 July 2024 or by certified e-mail to the [email protected] or by hand delivery to the body’s protocol in Corso Umberto I n. 54.
The municipal garden is a plot of land owned by the Municipal Administration made available to citizens residing in the Municipality of Caltanissetta with the aim of encouraging recreational use, the management and maintenance of the territory, the valorisation of typical products, intended only for the cultivation of vegetables, small fruits and flowers for use by the concessionaire.
The garden is non-profit, the vegetables produced can only be used for family consumption or donated to third parties, allowing those who care for it to make healthy use of their free time and facilitating meeting opportunities for recreational, cultural and social initiatives.
The vegetable gardens, measuring 48 m2 each, must be cultivated organically and the use of chemical fertilizers and polluting products such as, for example, herbicides or pesticides is therefore prohibited. The latter, in fact, could cause damage to the environment. The use of such products will result in the revocation of the assignment.
The concession of the vegetable gardens, every four years, will be addressed to the Agriculture Office and the essential requirements for citizens who apply for concession must possess the following:
– residence in the Municipality of Caltanissetta;
– have reached the age of 18;
– not having obtained another vegetable garden for themselves or another member of the family unit;
– not have exclusive ownership of other land cultivable as vegetable gardens in the Municipality of Caltanissetta or in neighboring municipalities;
Disabled citizens (in possession of suitable certification) who are not able to independently take care of the cultivation of the vegetable garden can submit an application jointly with another able-bodied citizen, but in the absence of a joint application, if assigned, they will be able to avail themselves of the collaboration of members to the family unit where they live together or in any case to other people reported by them.
The vegetable garden granted to the concessionaire for management cannot be sold, rented or given in succession, but must be cultivated directly and continuously.
