Happening 2024: the 26th edition begins in Piazza Stradivari

In Cremona, in the splendid setting of Piazza Stradivari, the Happening returns like every summer, with its meetings, shows, entertainment evenings for adults and children, food stands and even a cocktail show. Organized by the S. Omobono cultural centre, the event takes place over four evenings open to all, from Saturday 15th to Tuesday 18th June. This edition has as its title a well-known phrase by Pope John Paul II, “Do not be afraid!”taken from the speech with which he began his pontificate in 1978. A phrase that has never lost its relevance in almost fifty years of history. We live in a society that has just recovered from a devastating pandemic, which has left deep wounds in the lives of many of us, while terrible wars continue in Ukraine and the Holy Land. And even in our society there are increasingly evident fragilities: at work, in the family, among young people.

How is it possible, in the face of such great, deep-rooted and widespread problems, to reiterate the Pope’s invitation today: “Do not be afraid”? We will try to answer together. As? With the presence in the square, made up of meetings “at the table” in the catering area, of music listened to and sung and of reflections through public dialogues. The first, Sunday 16 June at 9pm: on the stage in Piazza Stradivari they were invited to discuss the title of this year’s edition, Monsignor Antonio Napolioni, bishop of Cremona And Tommaso Agasisti, full professor of Management Engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan and member of La Mongolfiera onlus. The second, lMonday 17 Juneby title “Business vs Human? Human nature and the meaning of work”, with Stefano Rossi, president of the Young Industrialists of Cremona; Andrea Della Bianca, national president of the Compagnia delle Opere; Marco CeresaCEO of Randstad Italia.

There will be no shortage of musical and cabaret evenings the duo Carlo Pastori and Walter Muto and with the cover band The Strangersa cocktail show with Simone Demichelia magical spectacle of the mythical wizard Beru for all children, the presentation of the book “Andrea Aziani. Fever of life” which tells the extraordinary adventure of a lay missionary in Peru and much more. The entire program is attached here in PDF.

And as regards the food stands, you can find cold and hot dishes, but also the “pinsa” in different flavours (menu is attached). This year, the Happening has started a collaboration with the Nazareth cooperative: during the evenings, the volunteers will also include educators and some kids from the “Outsider” project.

Like every year, the Happening offers prizes rich prizes with the lottery in support of the event. Tickets can be purchased during the 4 evenings.
