BRUGNERA – We are looking for eyewitnesses to a disturbing episode that occurred on Monday 10 June, along Via Ungaresca, in Brugnera. A woman who was walking her dog was attacked by another dog who was wandering freely on the side of the road, without any control. He pounced on his fellow man and a violent fight broke out between the two animals, which also involved the owner of the “four-legged” dog who was regularly kept on a leash. Somehow the woman managed to defend herself and scare the attacking dog away, but she reported some injuries who required emergency room medication. The attack occurred near the restaurant “Tinello”, which overlooks the roundabout of the Sp 25. An area with a few houses and grass fields on both sides of the road where you can walk your dog easily, in complete tranquility. But this time the daily “trip” reserved an unpleasant surprise.
THE APPEAL
On the Facebook page “You’re from Brugnera if“, a young woman from Sacile published the heartfelt appeal, addressing those who were present on Monday in the vicinity of the “Tinello”. «A dog and its owner were attacked by a dog that was roaming free in the area. The lady doesn’t remember what the dog looked like, we would need some witnesses to help us”, writes the young woman in reporting the incident, “I also make an appeal to the owner of the dog: take responsibility for your dog’s actions and take action come on, what happened isn’t right and no one even deigns to make a simple apology. I immediately thank anyone who can help us.” By resorting to emergency care, the attacked lady would also have filed a complaint with the police, but against unknown persons since the animal under accusation was probably a “vagrant”, or escaped the surveillance of the owner who was not certainly moved forward.
THE QUESTIONS
«We don’t know if it was a stray dog, if it had run away or if the owner was there and pretended nothing happened – specifies the young author of the appeal -. But the lady reported that he seemed too well cared for to be a stray.” Should the owner be identified, he risks arrest for up to three months, commuted to a financial penalty for the violation of article 672 of the penal code, which punishes the failure to keep and mismanage animals, to be applied to anyone who sets them free, or does not guard dangerous animals he owns with due caution, or entrusts their custody to an inexperienced person. “We live nearby and I often go out with my daughter and her dog for a walk”, wrote a resident of the area, commenting on the episode on Facebook, “It’s really sad not to feel safe even in this.”
