Simple and clear rules, in force until the next one October 31staimed at both public bodies and private citizens, but also at operators and managers of areas with water collection systems, embankments, roadsides, uncultivated green spaces, vegetable gardens and nurseries, industrial, artisanal and commercial activities, warehouses and construction sites.
The rules are contained inordinance issued by the Municipality of Varese which aims to limit the proliferation of insect vectors and, consequently, to prevent and control the diseases that derive from them.
The indications include a series of easy actions to be implemented to eliminate and prevent the formation of stagnant water and water accumulations (in fact, the larvae develop in water) and periodic antilarval treatment in humid places that cannot be eliminated, such as manholes for collecting rainwater. Also important is the periodic cutting of grass in courtyards and uncovered land in residential areas, the regular emptying of water containers in gardens and balconies and the covering of immovable ones. Finally, in cemeteries, where water treated with larvicidal products is not available, the use of damp sand in flower vases is prescribed instead of water.
The Municipality will, in the presence of suspected or confirmed cases of Chikungunya/Dengue or localized infestations of particular consistency with associated health risks, in particular in the areas surrounding schools, hospitals and healthcare homes for the elderly, carry out the treatments directly or order them. towards third parties responsible for the identified areas.
