Saturday 8 June conference organized by Ferrariae Decus and parish of Santo Spirito

Saturday 8 June 2024 at 4.30 pm in the church of Santo Spirito (via Montebello) in Ferrara, the cultural association Ferrariae Decus ETS and the parish of Santo Spirito organize a public and free conference entitled “St. Anthony of Padua between historical events, art and wonders of Ferrara”.

The parish priest will introduce the initiative Don Francesco Vialiwhile the scholars Marialucia Menegatti And Francesco Scafuriwith the help of evocative and rare images, will analyze some events linked to the life and extraordinary figure of Saint Anthony of Padua (Lisbon c. 1195 – Arcella, Padua, 1231), with particular reference to the devotional aspects and prodigious events which would have taken place in Ferrara in via Zemola, in the church of Santo Spirito and in other places in the city and the countryside.

At the center of the attention of the two historians are also curious news and above all some important works of art by great painters, inspired by singular or supernatural situations and events concerning the Portuguese miracle-worker saint. Furthermore, during the event, songs from the Antonian tradition will be performed by the «Alba Chorus Mariae» choir.

It will be a journey between reality and mystery in view of June 13, the day on which the liturgical calendar celebrates the feast of the saint, one of the most loved in the world.
