Elena Pulidori, laboratory technician at the University of Pisa, will receive an award for a project on agri-food and livestock waste
PISA — Elena Pulidori of the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Pisa she is among the winners of the first edition of the award INSTM – Women in Materials Science and Technology 2024 for the best doctoral theses.
Ranked second ex aequo out of 37 candidates, Dr. Pulidori will receive the award today, Wednesday 12 June, during the 14th INSTM Conference on the Science and Technology of Materialswhich will be held in Cagliari.
The study that won the prize for Pulidori, born in Livorno in 1990, is his project for valorise waste biomass from the agri-food and livestock industryespecially the poultry feathers and the citrus peels to create electrospun yarns for the biomedical sector and for the production of pellets.
Elena Pulidori obtained her master’s degree with honors in Analytical Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry in 2015, where she was hired as a laboratory technician in 2018. In June 2023 she concluded her doctorate with honors and today continues to work as a technician in the Department.
The study for which she was awarded was conducted in collaboration with the professors Giovanni Vozzi And Carmelo De Mariaof the Department of Information Engineering and the E. Piaggio Research Center of the University of Pisa and with the doctor Emilia Bramantiof theInstitute of Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds of the National Research Council.
