On Monday 3 June, the Aprilia surprised everyone by securing the sensational signature of Jorge Martin for 2025. The Spaniard, championship leader, has decided to leave Ducati after the Borgo Panigale management decided to promote Marc Marquez to the official team.
Taking advantage of the good offices of his great friend Aleix Espargarò in the team, Martin therefore decided to unite his future path with that of the Italian brand.
Who next to Martin?
With Aleix Espargarò having decided to retire from racing at the end of the season, Aprilia has already explained that it intends to reconfirm Maverick Vinales or to turn to an Italian pilot who is still free (we are talking about Marco Bezzecchi). The Spaniard, however, does not seem so inclined to decide his future quickly, especially after the arrival of a rather cumbersome teammate like Martin in the team.
Massimo Rivola thus analyzed the current situation a Sky: “We have always supported Maverick and we want to continue to do so. Obviously marriages happen in two, so let’s see. Today he is our reference and it is our priority to reconfirm him, otherwise I believe the market will be able to offer some good situations. I hope that Maverick will be Martin’s teammate, otherwise we’ll see.”
In recent days Vinales has been linked to Honda, but also to the Gresini Ducati team and KTM.
