The new step of Siena Jazz translates into an imminent season of great events and young talents from all over the world: the ‘Sienajazz International Summer Workshop’ in its 54th edition, which will open on 24 July (dedicated to the founder Franco Caroni, who passed away at the beginning of the year), was presented to the Tuscany Region, a new impulse well received by the regional leaders, present with the vice-president of the Council Stefano Scaramelli and the councilor Anna Paris, and supported with new vigor and great desire to act by the municipal administration of Siena, personally by the mayor Nicoletta Fabio, who as the president of Siena Jazz Massimo Mazzini said “was able and wanted to intervene with a new governance with participation in a Pnnr tender which brought in over one million six hundred thousand euros, in sign of a new planning”.

It is no coincidence that councilor Enrico Tucci was present to reiterate his support for a flagship of the city. And here is the originality of the project: international teachers who during the day teach the 98 students, with a limited number of students, coming from all over the world and who in the evening return to be musicians for unique events, as highlighted by the artistic director Jacopo Guidi .

After starting on July 24th with ‘Waiting for the seminar’, with maestro Roberto Spadoni and his Composer Ensemble, we arrive at the great stars such as the alto sax of Miguel Zenon and the trumpet of Avishai Cohen (25th July Piazza Provenzano) and so on in a parade of international big names for a calendar that dots the squares of Siena: on the 26th at the Bastione San Domenico della Fortezza breathtaking panorama and music by Theo Bleckmann, Harmen Fraanje, Yumi Ito, Ben Van Gelder, Reiner Baas, Kanoa Mendenhall, Jeremy Dutton, and so on with other greats who are a sort of spiritual fathers for young talents to finally play with. Jason Palmer, Lage Lund, Joe Sanders, Ofri Nehemya, on July 27th again at the Fortezza, July 31st in Piazza Provenzano Dan Kinzelman, Simone Graziano, Reiner Bass, Gabriele Evangelista, Stefano Tamborrino and Ben Val Gelder.

The event continues in a tight homage to the city with extraordinary events. On August 1st, the fortress hosts Philip Dizack, Francesco Bearzatti, Ethan Iverson, Jen Shyu, Fulvio Sigurtà, Miles Okazaki, Thomas Morgan and Dan Wess. A crescendo without interruptions to arrive on August 6th with the ‘Closing Session Act’, a great closing at the Fortress with the trumpet and the conduction of a group of stars by the magnificent trumpet of Alex Sipiagin. And Siena returns to being the capital of today’s best jazz.
