He’s getting closer St. Anthony and one of the most loved festivals in Torre del Greco returns, which animates the neighborhood of the same name with weeks of prayer and a solemn procession on the saint’s day, the June 13th.

Among the many parish festivals held in Torre del Greco, certainly that of St. Anthony plays an exceptional role. The parish community rallies around its patron saint who is traditionally celebrated on June 13th.
The neighborhood, already for half a century, has become a real extension of the center citizen losing all character of the suburbs: this contributed to making the celebratory moment even more popular.
A passed down tradition from generation to generation: in fact, there are many stencils and murals present in the area which recall the particular bond with the sacred figure and with the festival in general. In fact, it is written on the inscriptions “Neighborhood 13” where thirteen is the day on which St. Anthony is celebrated.
Two weeks of prayer: the “thirteen”
But the party started already on June 1stthe day in which the traditional one was added to every mass “tredicina” in S.Antonio: a series of prayers and reflections recited for thirteen days consecutive which will last until June 13th. But it is tomorrow and Thursday that the festival will come alive with its external celebrations: scheduled for tomorrow 12 June, at 6.30 pm, on pious transit of St. Anthony.
On the day of the party, Thursday 13 Junewill open with the Holy Mass at 8.00 in the morning and that at 10.00 during which the blessing of the children and the offering of the lily in S.Antonio.

There procession will take the away at 5.00 pm from the parish of S.Antonio di Padova on National Street: it will continue along via De Gasperi, via Calabria, vico 2° San Vito, via Nazionale, viale Toscana and via Nazionale up to number 281.
The return then along via Nazionale, touching via De Curtis, via S.Antonio, extending to the borders of the parish area towards the former petrol station in via Nazionale and then come back in in the parish, scheduled for 7.30pmwhen will it be held Holy Mass presided over by Fra Mario Folliero.
