In this vast electoral round, of crucial importance for Europe and Italy, the Democratic party he showed the ability to obtain an excellent result both at a national and Tuscan level. A Party that finally shows itself united in its plurality.
In our province the PD was the most voted party in Carrara, Massa and Montignoso and Zeri. Of the 8 municipalities voting in Lunigiana, 5 were won by centre-left lists – Comano, Filattiera, Fivizzano, Fosdinovo, Podenzana -, reconfirming the outgoing administrations and electing representatives of our party in each territory.
We sincerely thank all the candidates who made themselves available for this important electoral event; even where the left has failed to prevail, your commitment has been crucial and admirable.
We are satisfied with the team work carried out in recent months to build an alternative to the right, to strengthen our party and its roots in the territory. The data from the elections for the European Parliament show a worrying scenario, especially since the far right is advancing everywhere. The pro-European forces are still holding firm, but we can only watch the data emerging from the polls with alertness.
The growth in abstentionism is also worrying and sobering: less than 50% of those entitled to vote voted. If politics no longer seems capable of being representative, mistrust leads to inaction in the face of choice. We feel a strong responsibility to commit ourselves to changing this trend. There is always an alternative that is based on politics, which is community and collaboration, which is everyone’s work for the good of everyone.
On this basis, as a democratic community, we will always distinguish ourselves from those who work for themselves and for their own personal result. From today we start again.
