Avellino
Avellino to the vote, with seven mayoral candidates for a seat as mayor. The electoral counting began on time in the 72 city sections. The polls for the European elections have closed, all attention is focused on the only capital of Campania voting in this round.
The election of the new mayor of the Municipality of Avellino is proceeding slowly and the picture that emerges is that of a possible challenge in the run-off between two of the three candidates who are collecting the most votes: Laura Nargi, Antonio Gengato and Rino Genovese.
69.35% of those entitled to vote went to the polls, less than in 2019 (five years ago the turnout figure was 71.70%). In the capital of Irpinia, 70.72% of voters instead voted for the European elections. In the running are the outgoing deputy mayor Laura Nargi, supported by Really AVELLINO, We are AVELLINO, W la Libertà, for the centre-left wide field Antonio Gengaro – of Pd, M5s, App – AVELLINO Progetto Partecipato – +Europa and Controvento – Alleanza Verdi- Left – It is possible – and for the centre-right Rino Genovese – with the AVELLINO Civic Pact, Forza AVELLINO, Citizens on the Move, Moderates and Reformists, La Rondine. Fratelli d’Italia runs solo in support of Modestino Iandoli. Among the candidates also Aldo D’Andrea (Popular Unit), Vittorio Boccieri (Paf-Progetto AVELLINO Futura) and Gennaro Romei (Union of the Center).
At 4.50 pm:
1,472 preferences were expressed for Laura Nargi – candidate with the lists We are Avellino, Really and Viva la Libertà – 1,372 for Antonio Gengaro – aspiring tricolor band for the centre-left – and 1,074 for Rino Genovese, running with Patto Civico for Avellino.
