PORDENONE-UDINE – Western Friuli already has its first three mayors: in Cavasso Nuovo, Morsano al Tagliamento and Tramonti di Sotto the quorum was already reached in the late afternoon of yesterday, allowing Michele Bier, Elena Maiolla and Giampaolo Bidoli to celebrate virtually well before the official opening of the polls for the counting, which for administrative elections will only begin at 2pm today. In the province of Udine, however, there are 23 new “virtual” mayors, as reported in the article below. The average turnout for the administrative elections was 53 percent. At the European Championships, in Friuli, it stopped at a lower figure.

THE RESULT
In fact, there is still a formality. To make the nomination executive, it is necessary to have 50% plus one of the preferences of those who voted, but the hypothesis that hundreds of citizens went to the polls solely to invalidate their ballot appears to be a lunar scenario. «Around 4.30 pm, the quorum of 40% of those entitled to vote was reached, excluding those registered with Aire. This allows our unique list “Together we love Cavasso and Orgnese” to be elected. This result heartens us and makes us happy, especially because we will be able to guarantee a new administration to a municipality that in one year has suffered two administrative crises, with consequent commissionerships”, said Michele Bier, as soon as he learned the news of the virtual election . «Now we are waiting to know the outcome of the counting, because the second quorum of 50% of valid ballots must also be exceeded – he specified -. We are confident, however, in a positive outcome, because we have the perception that, besides us, the majority of the citizens of Cavasso also hope for the establishment of a stable administration, which can give new impetus to the activities, services and initiatives in favor of community. There was no shortage of people, fortunately a minority, who in this election campaign hoped that the quorum would not be reached, promoting abstentionism. The reasons that motivated these people are not understandable to us, considering that a further administration of the institution would prove very unfavorable for the entire community. We must therefore heartily thank the majority of citizens who understood the gravity of the moment and with a great sense of responsibility and civic duty went to the polls, allowing the possibility of a new government for the country. If we also pass the second quorum, we will get to work immediately, in the knowledge that we will have a lot of work to do. We will do everything possible not to disappoint their expectations and the trust they have placed in us. We have no shortage of commitment and determination, as well as skills and experience, but the challenge will not be limited to the walls of the town hall, but will require the involvement and support of all citizens”, concluded Bier.

MOUNTAIN AND LOW

«Aside from the superstition and the obligation to wait for the official data also on the preferences expressed, with the consequent appointment, we can already say that we are happy with the result and that people have understood the difficulty of the moment – Bidoli’s words – . Only one list happened just 25 years ago, when my experience as an administrator began, and that time too it went well. If there are the necessary Xs, we will get to work immediately. I won’t be the one to nominate the people who will be part of the executive but we will decide it together. Everyone in the group has the ability. But apart from internal politics, one of the important things will be to understand in the supra-municipal context whether we will be able to strengthen alliances and collaborations because we can’t go anywhere alone”. Elena Maiolla from Morsa, however, voted for caution: “The adrenaline is a thousand – she said – but Morsano is a difficult town. Maybe I don’t realize the feat yet, but I want to wait for the official announcement.”
