Drug trafficking from Puglia to Abruzzo: arrests also in the Chieti area

A vast drug trafficking which from Puglia arrived in Abruzzo, also touching the province of Chieti. To find out the Bari Provincial Command and the central organized crime investigation service, with the support of the local air-naval operational department and staff of the provincial command of the financial police of Foggia which led to the application of thirty-one precautionary measures and the seizure of assets worth approximately two million euros. As the Bari Today portal reconstructs today, the investigation made it possible to dismantle an organization dedicated to drug dealing.

Since the early hours of this morning, the soldiers involved in the operation have implemented the order issued by the investigating judge of the Bari court, at the request of the district anti-mafia directorate, against thirty-one people residing in the provinces of Bari, Barletta Andria Trani, Foggia, Teramo and Chieti. Of these, fifteen ended up in prison, fourteen under house arrest and two were forced to stay. All are under investigation, in various capacities, for the crimes of association aimed at trafficking in narcotic or psychotropic substances, as well as the illicit production, trafficking and possession of the same. Overall, approximately one hundred and fifty kilos of hashish and two hundred thousand euros in cash were seized.

In particular, the organization would have supplied narcotic substances, in a systematic and widespread manner, through the use of vehicles equipped with double bottoms, several squares in the provinces of Foggia, Bari and Barletta Andria Trani, as well as the coastal areas of Abruzzo, also by virtue of the criminal fame deriving from the belonging of one of the main suspects to a well-known clan operating in the Daunian territory. Furthermore, she would have managed to camouflage the illicit activities in structures used for commercial activities, with the use of encrypted and “closed circuit” communication tools. The suspects, according to the investigators’ findings, used coded language, indicating for example as “1p” a block of one hundred grams, or “una” referring to a box of approximately thirty kilos, while the money was identified with the word ” documents”.
