The municipal elections
Ferrara is a municipality with more than 15,000 inhabitants, so if no candidate in the first round obtains an absolute majority, a run-off will be held between the two most voted. The possible run-off round will be held on Sunday 23 June from 7am to 11pm and on Monday 24 June from 7am to 3pm.

Who were the mayoral candidates in Ferrara
The outgoing mayor Alan Fabbri, after the historic victory in 2019 in a city that has always been considered a fiefdom of the left, has re-nominated for a second term at the Municipal Palace. A Northern League exponent, he was supported by the compact centre-right, with six lists: Alan Fabbri mayor, Lega, Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, Ferrara al Centro and Udc for Ferrara. The center-left has chosen to nominate Fabio Anselmo, the lawyer behind the Cucchi and Aldrovandi cases. There were six lists of support for him too: Democratic Party, 5 Star Movement, Anselmo Mayor List, Action-Pri Pact for Ferrara, Civics with Anselmo and United Left for Anselmo. The center-left, however, did not run united. Part of the coalition supported Anna Zonari (with the lists La Comune and +Ferrara in Europa and Psi) while the candidate Daniele Botti, with the Ferrara Futura list, was supported by Italia Viva.
