Administrative elections in Sicily, all municipalities to vote
Municipal elections, the electoral system
Voting was done using two different systems: the proportional system in the 8 largest municipalities, the majority system in the other 29. In the Municipalities affected by the proportional system, a second round, or run-off, is scheduled between the mayoral candidates who obtained a ex aequo. The run-off date is two weeks after the first round. In municipalities subject to the majority system, however, there is only one round, at the end of which the candidate with the most votes wins.
Qwhen and how to vote for administrative ones
Sicilians have been called to vote in the local elections Saturday 8 Junefrom 2.00 pm to 10.00 pm, e Sunday 9 June from 7:00 to 23:00. The start of the counting has been set for Monday 10 June at 2.00 pm, after the closing of the counting operations of the European elections.
The voters had the Possibility of squeeze up to 2 preferences, provided they belong to candidates from the same list and of a different kind (for example, if the first choice had been a woman, the second would have fallen on a man). Split voting is foreseen if the voter intends to choose a mayoral candidate belonging to one list and a councilor candidate from a different list.
