Arezzo, the Chimera Nuoto triumphs at the Stradivari Trophy in Cremona

Chimera Nuoto triumphs at the Stradivari Trophy in Cremona. The event, now in its twenty-second edition, saw the participation of as many as fifty male and female athletes of all ages from the Arezzo club who took to the pool in different categories and who managed to win thirty-nine golds, thirty-two silvers and eighteen bronzes.

The total of eighty-nine medals earned first place in a ranking that brought together thirty-two teams from all over the peninsula, with Chimera Nuoto preceding Livorno Aquatics and Soncino Sporting Club. The Stradivari Trophy constituted a testing ground in view of the upcoming regional and national championships to allow swimmers of different categories from Beginners to Absolutes to evaluate the level of their preparation in comparison with their peers from the rest of the peninsula. The final balance is particularly positive by virtue of the chronometric performances of the Arezzo team which earned them a rich list of prizes, with Chimera Nuoto also managing to monopolize entire specialties such as the 100 butterfly in the Beginners B category with first place going to Giorgio Raffi, second place place of Mattia Bianchini and third place of Bernardo Cerofolini. Among the protagonists of the event were Gabriele Mealli from 2007 among the Juniors and Margherita Mattioli from 2011 among the Boys who won five golds each. Furthermore, the two successes in the 100 freestyle and in the 100 butterfly of the Assoluti by Eleonora Camisa should be noted of 2002 who plays in the sports team of the University of Arkansas in the United States and who, having returned to Arezzo for the summer, competed for the club where she grew up. Gabriele Gambini from 2005 also deserves a mention as he won the 100m freestyle, the 200m freestyle, the 50m butterfly, the 200m medley and, above all, in the demanding Australian challenge which involves a freestyle race where, every 50 meters , the direct elimination of the athlete in last place is expected until the victory of the only one left is proclaimed, thus denoting a beautiful combination of technique and resistance.

Chimera Nuoto, in the meantime, also took to the pool with the athletes from the Masters sector for adults with whom it participated in the thirty-seventh Galluzzi Trophy in Città di Castello. The Arezzo group won a gold with Giuditta Rachini in 2003 in the 50m butterfly and a silver with Giorgio Croce in 1985 in the 50m freestyle, then completing the Arezzo team were Lorenzo Bianchi, Edoardo Calussi, Francesco Cortonesi and Marco Felicini.
