In 2015 the clans of Marano they found themselves having to face the attempted invasion by the Mugnano group of the Beloved-Pagan driven by Mariano Riccio. For ‘stick up for‘ the borders the leaders of the clan were conducted the murder of Antonio Pastella and Salvatore Vignaboth had recently become close to the son-in-law of Cesare Pagano. So both were killed a few weeks apart: Batter was shot outside a well-known bar on Corso Europa, Vineyard between via Casaggiarrusso and via Corree di sopra.
The criminal content was reconstructed by the important repentant Giuseppe Simioli: “Since 2015 the Polverino clan he was supplanted by the clan Orlando-Nuvoletta. In fact, after the arrest of Giuseppe Polverino in March 2012, our area of criminal interest was the object of the criminal ‘attention’ of Mariano Riccio, son-in-law of Cesare Paganowhich with the help of other subjects such as Salvatore Ruggiero, and his children and grandchildren, attempted to “take” Marano. In September 2012 we experienced a period of strong tension due to this situation.”
In May 2021 Simioli claimed that the murder Batter was committed by the Orlando clan and was particularly decided: “This murder was decided and committed by the Orlando clan, in particular by the will of Antoni Orlando known as masculine and his brother Raffaele Orlando
Justice collaborator Teodoro Giannuzzi was also the first to speak about those crimes: “The day after the meeting in the province of Caserta Giovanni Raniello made a revelation to me. Since you are now with us and are one of our affiliates, he told me, you must know that the two deaths in Marano were the work of the Carrisiani (Orlando group, ed.), who killed Antonio Pastella and Salvatore to do Giuseppe Simioli a favor. The blitz against the Marano gang
On Saturday morning the Carabinieri of the Naples Investigative Unit Command carried out a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against 4 people seriously suspected of the crimes of murder of Antonio Pastella and Salvatore Vigna as well as possession and carrying of weapons aggravated by the mafia method and the aim of facilitating the Orlando clan, operating in the Marano area. In particular, the murders took place in Marano, respectively on 12 March 2015 and 12 May 2015 in a well-known bar on Corso Europa.
Among those under investigation for the double murder are Antonio Orlando ‘mazzolino’, Angelo Orlando ‘o malomm, Vincenzo Polverino and Armando Lubrano. Carlo Nappi, Vincenzo Polverino, Giuseppe Ruggiero and Giuseppe Simioli are under investigation at large.
